The jewel of each annual Clinic is our Saturday Evening Film Festival. The Sea Rovers take pride in the fact that we have continuously blazed the trail in the underwater world, premiering more speakers and presentations from our stages than any other show.

     Joe Romeiro is a multi award winning veteran wildlife cinematographer/filmmaker and executive director of 333 Productions. He has spent over a decade filming and interacting with sharks all over the world. He holds dozens of producer and filmmaking credits for Discovery Channel, Warner Brothers, National Geographic, BBC, Animal Planet and many more. He has worked with many top celebrities and is a staple host on SHARK WEEK. His mission is to showcase sharks as beautiful creatures that are critical elements to our oceans ecosystem through personal interaction, education, research and filmmaking. 

     

    He has worked with many respected scientists in the field to bring to light some of the world's first knowns about shark behavior and activities that astound audiences worldwide. He is a member of the Explorers Club and The Boston Sea Rovers, who in 2019 awarded him the esteemed “Diver of the Year” 

     

    He has co- authored many scientific papers on shark behavior, movement, ecology and biology. Joe and his wife Lauren are the owners of a 45ft research vessel located in Rhode Island, the R/V WARFISH. He has been focusing on his local New England waters, fighting for the survival of the species that inhabit it; his main focuses are the Mako, Blue, Porbeagle and Great White Shark. His work has fueled awareness and legislation to protect these species not just regionally, but worldwide.

Lauren Romeiro

    Lauren is a marine scientist and photographer/cinematographer focusing on the conservation of sharks in the Northwest Atlantic. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a B.S. in Marine Biology in 2016 and an M.O. in Oceanography in 2017. She started working for 333 Productions in 2017 as a cinematographer and has been featured on Discovery Channel, National Geographic, Lionsgate pictures, Facebook, and ESPN. Along with highly acclaimed underwater cinematographer Joe Romeiro, she operates a wildlife filming and conservation vessel the R/V WARFISH from Rhode Island. For her dissertation, Lauren is examining movement, foraging, and reproductive ecology of New England sharks (great white, mako, blue and porbeagle) through a multi-disciplinary approach of videography, eDNA, reproductive hormone assays and stable isotope analyses all on free swimming animals.

    Paul Cater Deaton is an award-winning Writer, Producer, Director, and Cinematographer who has shot on six continents for film, TV, music video, magazine, and documentary projects. Credits include The Travel Channel, The Discovery Channel, HBO Documentaries, and The Amazing Race.

    He is a member of The Explorers Club, the Television Academy, Boston Sea Rovers, Historical Diving Society, and Rotary Club.

    Paul has been a SCUBA diver for over 35 years. He is a NAUI Instructor and TDI Rebreather Diver. He is certified in Global Shark Biology, Biodiversity and Conservation by Cornell University and the University of Queensland, Australia.

Carlos Gauna

    Carlos is a photographer, cinematographer, and drone pilot best known for his drone documentation of Great White Shark behaviors. Based in Southern California, he is known as “The Malibu Artist” on YouTube & social media. His work often goes viral for displaying unique shark behaviors from above. His videos on YouTube and Instagram have reached over 100 million views combined. Carlos is currently co-authoring scientific papers on shark behavior and movements and consults with scientists to utilize drones for data collection.
     
    His use of aerial footage credits include, National Geographic, Discovery Channel, France 2, Good Morning America, NBC Evening News, CBS Evening News, and various other media outlets including a front page feature in LA Times.
